I think the value Keller and Patty got out of the sessions was the new techniques and bonding.

I truly appreciate all the attention and advice you gave to Keller. He had a great experience and talks a lot to his family about what he learned.

Jazz

Sport dog owner

My scentwork prospect was incredibly nervous at looking at anything exterior. Through the process of conditioning he’s gained a ton of confidence
and is now willing to sniff the random objects I put scents around to see if they are hidden there!
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Michelle Shadwick

Hi, I’m Michelle, a Certified Canine Athlete Specialist, AKC Fit Dog Instructor, and Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog Evaluator with over a decade of hands-on experience training dogs of all ages, sizes, and energy levels. I specialize in canine fitness and conditioning, with a background working with everything from energetic sport dogs to beloved senior pets. My mission is to help everyday dog owners understand the "why" and "how" behind keeping their dogs fit, healthy, and injury-free—starting with simple, safe exercises anyone can do.

As an educator, I believe learning should feel approachable and empowering—not overwhelming. I love breaking down canine fitness into clear, actionable steps that build your confidence and your dog’s skills at the same time. Whether I’m teaching in-person or online, I always aim to make training fun, supportive, and rooted in science-backed methods.

This course was inspired by my experience as a table steward at a local UKC conformation show, where I got a behind-the-scenes look at what judges are really looking for. After an insightful lunch conversation with the judge, I combined that perspective with my background in dog training and fitness to create a program that helps handlers bring out the best in their dogs—both in and out of the ring.

I’m so excited to welcome you to this class and help you kick off your dog’s fitness journey. Let’s build a stronger, healthier bond—one paw at a time!

Frequently Asked Questions

My dog already moves well—do we really need this?

Even great movers can improve with conditioning. This course helps fine-tune gait, build endurance, and keep your dog performing at their best throughout the entire show season.

I’m not a fitness expert—what if I do something wrong?

No worries! The exercises are broken down step-by-step with clear demos and safety tips, so you’ll know exactly how to train with confidence and avoid common mistakes.

I don’t have a ton of equipment or space—can I still do the exercises?

Yes! Most exercises use simple household props like poles, platforms, and mats. You can do them in your living room, backyard, or anywhere you have a bit of open space.

My dog already gets plenty of ring practice—isn’t that enough?

Practicing in the ring builds skills, but conditioning builds the strength and balance that make those skills shine. This course fills the gap between training and true ring-readiness.

My girl is in season, pregnant, or whelping. Can I still do the exercises?

We recommend pausing exercises and checking with your vet. Your program does not expire, so there's no stress to pick up where you left off.

I have another question.

Awesome! We can't wait to hear from you!
